What's better than the warm feeling of coming home after a long time? For Nin*, that feeling of a homecoming couldn’t come fast enough.
For longer than she could remember, she was trapped in the red-light district in Thailand, hoping for a way out. Day after day, she was sexually exploited by men, and day after day, she didn’t know what to do. She experienced unimaginable trauma and was trapped in this cycle of abuse.
One day, an Atlas Free Network Member reached out to her and she courageously took the step forward to seek support and a way out. This moment for survivors, the one between the familiar place of abuse and the unfamiliar of freedom, isn’t an easy choice to make. It takes guts to accept help and leave your abuser. It takes relational equity and time, but Nin left.
She was finally safe. In the care of our Network Member, she received therapy and job training. She also took time to share her story with other survivors to offer them encouragement and hope.
Here’s what our Network Member said about her:
"We had the privilege of working with [Nin] from the red-light district, who showed incredible resilience and determination in reclaiming her life. Witnessing her journey of healing and empowerment has been a source of immense hope and encouragement for our team."
Recently, she pursued her dream of going back to her hometown and is now working at a local restaurant there. Today, she is safe and rebuilding her life.
What if our Network Member didn’t reach out to her that day? Her story may have been gravely different. Team Freedom makes this work possible. The more people give monthly, the more lives like Nin’s we can help daily. We need you. She needs you. Give your first monthly gift here.
