For over two years, Amone* endured unimaginable hardship at the hands of her captors—trapped in forced labor, isolated, and abused. She did not speak the language where she was trapped and didn’t know where to turn. She just knew she needed to get out.

An Atlas Free Network Member heard of her situation and stepped in right away. Amone was connected with a case manager who supported her through her healing journey. She later attended vocational school, learning valuable skills to rebuild her future.

Today, Amone is stronger than ever. “I had to learn to love myself again. I love my body for being strong, my height, my calmness, and my hard work. I also want to give other people like me a chance to heal,” she says.

Amone says she wants to be strong to take on the next chapter in her life. She is working as a food server in a hotel and continuing her healing with therapy.

“I am strong today because I still keep believing in freedom,” she shares.

This is what true strength looks like. Amone’s story is a reminder that freedom isn’t just about surviving and getting out—it’s about thriving.
